Before I give my honest thoughts on this news update let’s read some of the comments from Twitter.

“Feds did a sweep on the anime Community.”

‘I’m sick to my fuc*in stomach no they shut down Anix.to Fu*k I need a new website.”

“They are committing Order 66 to all these anime sites.”

‘I will never give money to companies such as Crunchy Roll which intentionally butcher translations and insert their woke agenda.”

“Aniwave going down is equivalent to nuclear war that was such a great website.”

“Animewave you will always be missed my beloved, they took a dear one for me today.”

“Anix and zorox too… Nigga I’m heated Fu*k Crunchyroll.”

“Niggas did a mass shutdown on almost all the anime sites I’m so sick, someone saves us we can’t let Crunchyroll be the last man standing.”

“Aniwave, Anix, Animesuge, 9anime shutdown fu*k you Crunchyroll.”

“I can’t believe in my own eyes Aniwave website just shut down today and I don’t know what to do. On other websites watching anime is not free. Also, I wish the Aniwave (9anime) websites would return.”

“I thought Aniwave (9anime) shutting down was a glitch on the website. Until I came on Twitter and saw that it was shutting down.”

“Just found out, that a lot of free-to-watch Anime sites got shut down today. These are dark days indeed. They want subscriptions, yet they censor the anime and you can’t own them. If buying isn’t owning then piracy isn’t stealing. New sites will emerge cuz Corpos will never change.”

“Bro Aniwave shut down and I was on the website earlier today then also Zoro shut down as well I need new Anime websites.”

Yeah, a lot of people are very heated, and what do I think of all this, well I’m quite too mixed on it. On one hand, these sites are piracy sites they aren’t legal, they aren’t official you weren’t given back to the anime industry by watching these animes on these websites.

But on the other hand, I do understand some of the hate I do understand the backlash towards this announcement. Yes, Crunchyroll is pretty good, I mean the range of anime on that website it’s phenomenal and you can binge so many new shows as they’re airing with an official subtitle translation.

But they don’t always have every single anime on the website. Some shows aren’t even available on Crunchyroll or any streaming platform. You either have to spend hundreds of pounds on a Blu-ray. Which most anime fans can’t afford or you go ahead and watch it on these websites.

I was so eager to watch Dragon Ball Z Kai and they finally released the Kai version in the UK just a couple of weeks ago. But before that, you had to pay hundreds and hundreds of pounds to buy and order Blu-rays to watch Kai and that’s just a little bit extreme, especially for an anime that was remastered over 15 years ago yes.

I do understand that $20 for one season of Dragon Ball Z Kai is quite reasonable, as there are about 26 episodes on that disc. But considering the hundreds and hundreds of episodes you have to watch
that’s going to be quite pricey and Hefty.

I’m still quite shocked that the car Boy Bbop cost £29 on Amazon UK when that show was released in 1996. I understand the high price tag for brand-new anime series but the high price tag for old shows like Cowboy Bebop Full Metal being over $30 is just a little bit extreme.

And you know what Netflix is like putting all of their shows into anime Netflix jail. Look at what happened to Jojo part six I’m not a huge fan of Jojo but I truly felt bad for the fandom you basically killed all hype and momentum for the series just delaying it and dumping it all onto Netflix.

Summertime rendering was airing live in Japan and being talked about week to week by the Japanese audience while the US in the West couldn’t have any access to it. It was in Disney plus jail and we had
to wait until the entire series was out for us to go ahead and watch it and by then the hype had already died down.

But these websites allowed viewers to watch the show week to week alongside a Japanese audience. Yes, these sites aren’t official but without a lot of these websites, I do truly feel like a lot of anime fans wouldn’t be anime fans to begin with.

I mean heck you just have to type in a few words on Google and you can quickly find out and discover that Crunchy Roll was officially a piracy site. Back in the day when I read that news I was kind of shocked because Crunchy Roll is to go to Legal legit website to watch all your favorite anime
series.

On Crunchy Roll went from being a torrent website back in 2006 to being a website now owned by Sony and being the number one place to watch your favorite anime series.

There was a time when unless you specifically recorded an anime on tsunami at a specific time it
was nearly impossible to watch anime and it’s all thanks to all these Sites that a lot of people ended up being anime fans.

Yes, I do understand people being gutted over these sites because of all these different streaming sites and different animes being sent to different websites. Like Oosi noo being on a high dive JoJo
being on Netflix alongside the seven deadly sins.

£650 may not seem a lot as a monthly fee but when you have to pay for multiple websites it does add up and heck at that point you’re better off just paying cable. But we are in a new age where even though Crunchy Wall’s price tag is going up and up and up.

Their catalog is quite vast and now that they have merged with FUNimation. There is so much more variety on the Crunchy Roll than there ever was before back in the day when I was originally using Crunchy Roll for Naruto.

There were barely any dubbed episodes and you had to go on FUNimation and even on FUNimation, there were barely any shows that were completed. I think that the big thing is that a lot of shows while they are advertised on Crunchy Roll aren’t completed. Blue Exorcist season 1 isn’t available on Crunchy Roll. You have to watch that on another website.

In conclusion to all this, it’s the end of an era for people that can’t quite afford these quote-unquote Prestige websites. But this is a new age and a new era I understand why these sites are being taken down.

let’s just hope Crunchyroll and other streaming platforms that are legal shape up and do what needs to be done to make more anime accessible for not just viewers in the US and the UK and
Australia but for people in other regions of the world. Because these other websites like 9anime are truly the only way for them to watch anime, Crunchyroll has to fix it up.
